Kingdom

Reflection stares back
Revealing potential choice
To enter kingdom

Tip-toeing around
Traumatized by the fallen
Reaching other side

The end of the board
Graciously wearing the crown
The king surrenders

  1. Ah, this is awesome. I love the title, the poem and the image you have so wonderfully used. I am a chess lover so this spoke to me right away. I’ve actually played a game where a pawn was responsible for capturing the king. It is often the ones we do not expect to rise to power who do so. Something tells me the pawn knew all along that the crown would soon be his. Your opening lines say it all!! Great poetry!
